I had been to a place to where the world-famous commercial group Otavalos belongs. Also, the name of the place is Otavalos which is located in Ecuador. This group is known to be economically rich, yet more than half of the region is underprivileged.
Firstly, I visited San Pablo Lake which is worshipped by locals and is the most visited lake in Ecuador. Then my zest to visit more water bodies started giving me thrills so, I went ahead to visit Peguche Waterfall, a really beautiful and sacred place. I really liked the people’s devotion to nature.
Near San Pablo Lake there is the mountain called Imbabura which is 4610m high and it is where locals do rituals to pray during droughts.
Since I was at the place to which economical group belongs, how could I not go to the local market? As usual, like every Saturday it was the day of Mercado Artesanal. It’s only on Saturdays when Otavalos sell the handicrafts. I got to purchase a wide range of clothes, hats, paintings, jewelry etc. of the authentic and best quality. I also purchased snacks from Mercado 24 De Mayo. I also took a glance at Mercado De Animales, a market to sell animals where people trade their livestock.
Next day I went on to Cuicocha Lake which is a deep volcanic crater. It was really amazing to view there. I also visited the nearby museum there. Next day I went to Parque Condor which is basically a bird sanctuary and I really loved the flight demonstration which took place in the afternoon. I regretted not going with family there when I visited El Lechero, basically a tree landmark which is treated as a picnic spot. The place has an herbal essence that is best for our health.
Now to tell about food, I found roasted pork to be best there and even the fried tilapia. Roast guinea-pig is the delicious local traditional food whose taste is still unforgettable.
